Craft Freemasonry
Jersey Lodge of Unity No 8352
Warrant dated 3rd November 1970
Consecrated 12th December 1970
This was the first of two Lodges to be consecrated in the Province for nearly fifty years. It was promoted by the Provincial Grand Master, who asked the senior Lodge of the Province, Yarborough, to sponsor it. The name of the Lodge was carefully chosen to illustrate the unity of the Province, and at least one founder member came from each of the existing Lodges.
The consecration took place at the Masonic Temple at Stopford Road on Saturday 12th December 1970 at 4.30pm. The consecrating officer was the Provincial Grand Master, RW.Bro B.L.Clift. There were sixteen founders, all of whom were present at the consecration, which lasted a total of two hours and twenty minutes.
On the 7th May 1979 the Lodge received with thanks a banner presented by W.Bro R.Eaton. The Provincial Grand Master RW.Bro H.H.Duckworth together with his Deputy and officers of Provincial Grand Lodge entered in procession. The Provincial Grand Master was offered and accepted the gavel, and then took over the chair. An escort party left the Lodge and returned with W.Bro Eaton bearing the banner, which was then presented to the Provincial Grand Master, who unveiled it and received it on behalf of the Lodge.
The Lodge only meets four times a year, and consequently occasionally has to work double ceremonies to deal with the many candidates. It has also held a number of emergency meetings, in order to keep up with the amount of work before it.
