De Carteret Lodge was formed as a temperance Lodge in 1910, and named after the Provincial Grand Master at the time, RW Bro E.C.Malet de Carteret. It lost its temperance status in 1981. At the time the vote was taken, a very significant crack of thunder happened over the Temple, and an electricity power failure in St.Helier suddenly plunged the Temple into darkness, save for the glow of the candles.
