The Mechanical Lodge was consecrated four months after the Farmers Lodge by the Athol or Antients' Grand Lodge. It was one of the last to be warranted by Atholl Grand Lodge, just eight months before the union in December 1813. The warrant is signed by the Duke of Atholl as Grand Master, and Thomas Harper as Deputy Grand Master.
The Lodge changed its name to Lodge Mechanical in 1817. It reverted to Mechanical Lodge in 1841. It changed its name to Mechanic's Lodge in 1844 and was finally renamed the Duke of Normandy Lodge in 1910
An Athol Lodge, its working is quite different to the Yarborough Lodge.
